The way which a manuscript has to go until it comes in printers format on the display of a book store is difficult and mostly unssuccesull. In front of a hundred thousand publications which are launched on the market, stands an uncountable number of manuscripts, which have just found their ways in the publishers storage. The reasons are not always terms of content that a publisher refuses a manuscript. First there are financial facts, to produce a book. Top or Flop is the question, which lectors have to answer. Neither the value misjudged nor the there is just a small edition possible, because they expect just a few customers. That concerns especially specialist books. Book an Demand is the magic word. With Book on Demand is your printing finished work saved in electronic form and it is on call purchase. That means it can be printed to a book every time and in every number of units. Book on Demand means, we connect printing of the books directly on the demand. We can publish your book even for small editions fast and cheap. Only what is ordered will be printed. We reduce the costs for printing and stock to a minimum and the investment risk for the publisher falls. Publishers can pick up books in it's range of products, which give at first sight and perhaps on closer inspection don´t the impression to be a bestseller. In this way it transpires new chances for unknown authors and for economic publishings as well.

How does it works in practice?
Our publisher mainly works in economic publishings. But we are also spreading out our publishers spectrum in other areas of literature. Book on Demand takes a central postion in our publisher philosophy. In spite of Book on Demand: As a publisher we still have to decide which books we pick up in our programme. But now we can concentrate on the content quality.

After sending your manuscript or project sketch, and after our agreed for a publication, you will receive constructions how to manufacture the electronic printing presentation. You will send your work as a file, it would be best if you do that in PostScript-size. How that works you can find in our constructions as well. Now your work will go on in digital printing and only a few days later you will hold your book in your hands. Summarized is the course as follows:

  1. You submit your manuscript/your project sketch.
  2. The publisher checks if he picks up your work in his offer.
  3. The publisher makes a contract with you and will give a International Standard Book Number (ISBN) and enrolls the publishing by the responsible department .
  4. You will work out a printing presentation.
  5. The presentation will be worked out to a so called Printmaster, saved digital and will be after ca. 10 days ready to print.
  6. You receive your author specimen.
  7. RHOMBOS makes the publishing for your book.
  8. RHOMBOS-VERLAG makes the orders and dispatch of your book.
  9. You receive a yearly or half yearly analysis, your royalty isdepended to this analysis.
  10. You apply your publishing at VG-Wort, which will pay further royalties.


How about the cost?
To publish by Book on Demand, we set on a small cooperation with our authors. We sit in the same boat and we are, so to speak, depended on each other. To use the advantage of a Book on Demand production is a division of work necessary. You manage the chronological sequence of events and the costs to finish your manuscript, concluding the saving. Of course you can trust of publishers consulting. You will give -a ready for printing, electric presentation of your manuscript- to the publisher.

For the unlimited time of file- saving and for the already done work (such as designing of the jacket, checking of the book, etc.), we will be calculate a flat rate of 300,00 Euro (VAT included).


Scale of contract
We make the technical look after of your book, e.g. marketing, dispatch, calculation. The printed book will get an ISBN number and is world wide to find in the publishers index.

Your book take place, with a small describing in the RHOMBOS- online shop, on which you can order world wide. The book will be also in publishing brochures.


Who could be interessted in Book on Demand?
Fundamentaly Book on Demand is suitable for all publications. It's advantage could be best made by small editions, that means up to 300 pieces. To save cost , we offer two standard files: DinA4 and DinA5. The inside will be mande in black/white. The jacket is of cardboard and could be made in any colours. The binding will be made as a jacket book. Author and publisher will make a contract, the book will receive a ISBN-number and will be sold from the publisher.

In exeption is a service order possible, in which the publisher is just reponsibelfor dispatch and sell. If you want to publish your book without any profit, could this be a possibility.
